UPDF Commander Urges Troops to Uphold Discipline

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division Commander, Major General Felix Busizoori, has called on troops to maintain the highest standards of discipline and integrity as the country heads towards the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking during a routine barracks sensitisation session held at the Division Headquarters in Gulu, Busizoori emphasised that the UPDF remains a professional force committed to safeguarding national stability and constitutional order.

He cautioned that any individuals attempting to undermine the electoral process or engage in acts contrary to the law would face firm disciplinary and legal action.

“The UPDF is a disciplined institution that must remain neutral and focused on its constitutional mandate. Anyone who engages in acts that threaten the peace or the credibility of the electoral process will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” Busizoori said.

The Division Commander also advised soldiers to live within their means and resist the temptation of adopting extravagant lifestyles. He encouraged personnel to embrace prudent financial management and invest in sustainable ventures such as livestock farming to secure their livelihoods beyond active service.

In his address, Busizoori underscored the importance of family unity and cultural roots, urging officers and men to regularly visit their ancestral homes with their spouses and maintain strong family ties.

He further warned against indiscipline, alcohol abuse, and other behaviours that could tarnish the image of the Force or compromise individual performance and wellbeing.

The session, which aimed to reinforce discipline and welfare consciousness among troops, was attended by Brigadier Paul Muwonge, the Deputy Division Commander, as well as departmental heads and staff officers from the 4 Infantry Division.
