Africa-Press – Uganda. Eurogold, a refinery company owned by Ugandan entrepreneur Bernard Feni, has received a mining license from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development for operations and value addition in Mubende.

The new small scale licence will see value added by refining the artisanal miners’ gold to 99.9%.

This license follows a recent partnership between Eurogold and Mubende United Artisanal Miners, an association of local gold workers.

The official license was presented by Agnes Alaba, commissioner of mines, representing Energy Minister Ruth Nankabirwa, at an event in Bukya town council, Mubende district.

Under the memorandum of understanding signed Nov. 3, Eurogold will buy the gold produced by the association and refine it to 99.9% purity for international trade.

Feni, whose company is noted as the first fully Ugandan-owned refinery, reaffirmed Eurogold’s commitment to empowering local miners, promoting ethical sourcing and driving long-term prosperity within the mining communities.

John Bosco, chairman of the artisanal miners association, expressed gratitude for the development.

“For years, our members have worked tirelessly to gain recognition,” he said. “This license gives us a new beginning one based on dignity, compliance and opportunity.”

This partnership aligns with Eurogold’s broader strategy to build a more inclusive and sustainable gold industry in Uganda.

Gold is one of Uganda’s top export commodities, contributing significantly to foreign exchange earnings and the national economy.
