Museveni'S NRM CEC Appointments Clarified by Presidency

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Office of the President has clarified that reports circulating online claiming that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed individuals to the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) as “historicals” are false.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Senior Presidential Press Secretary Sandor Walusimbi wrote;

“Good morning Folks! Claims circulating in an online publication that H.E. the President has appointed individuals to the CEC of the NRM as ‘historicals’ are false. No such official communication has been issued. Should any official communication be made, the public will be duly informed through the appropriate channels.”

The clarification follows reports suggesting that President Museveni had appointed Internal Affairs Minister Major General (Rtd) Kahinda Otafiire, First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, and Security Minister Major General (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi to the NRM CEC as “historicals.”

The NRM Central Executive Committee is the party’s highest governing organ, responsible for making critical decisions regarding the party’s policies, leadership, and strategic direction.

The Office of the President urges the public and media outlets to rely on official communications for accurate information and to exercise caution against unverified online reports.
