Africa-Press – Uganda. Mawokota South Member of Parliament and Deputy President of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) for the Central Region, Yusuf Nsibambi has officially joined NRM from

Nsibambi was on Wednesday led to the NRM headquarters in Kampala by the NRM first vice chairperson(female), Anita Among.

“I have brought Hon Nsibambi to join NRM. Today, today February 18th he has joined NRM. He believes and has said he had known what NRM had done and that since joining parliament he has seen it and believes wants to be in team that delivers for this country,” Among said.

“As a party we have got a knowledgeable and resourceful person in Nsibambi.”

Nsabambi, who was clad in yellow, said he is ready to serve the party.

“I am ready to join the struggle for peace. I am ready to be given any task to serve our people,” Nsibambi said.

Nsibambi recently led a number of fellow opposition MPs to meet Museveni last week, a development that stirred questions.

Appearing on Sanyuka Television later, Nsibambi defended the meeting and said some Ugandans have wrongly assumed that engaging the President brings immediate cash benefits.

“Many of those who are struggling are the ones who believe that meeting President Museveni means you will receive money. I am not in that category,” he said, stressing that his mission was not about personal gain.

The Mawokota South MP said he was encouraged that President Museveni had shown some willingness to hear concerns about prisoners detained after election unrest.

“I’m glad President Museveni agreed to listen to our plea and to release prisoners including those who need rehabilitation,” Nsibambi said.

The MP also revealed that his dialogue with Museveni was not a one‐off event.

“President Museveni is a leader chosen by the people. Last year, I met him three times,” Nsibambi said.
