Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda has officially confirmed its participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade in Serbia following the signing of a participation contract during the second international participants meeting held this week at the Sava Center in Belgrade.

The Ugandan delegation was led by State Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, General Wilson Mbadi, alongside the Head of Administration at the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development, Mathew Bagonza.

Others included Uganda’s Ambassador to Italy, Paula Napeyok; Commissioner of External Trade at the Ministry of Trade, David Katungi; and the Manager for Export Development and Promotions at the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotion Authority, Geraldine Kaganzi.

The signing of the participation contract marks a critical milestone, formally committing Uganda to showcase its culture, investment opportunities, tourism potential, and export capabilities at the global exhibition scheduled for 2027.

The event is expected to attract over 120 countries and millions of visitors, providing Uganda with a strategic platform to position itself as a competitive destination for trade and investment.

“Uganda approaches Expo 2027 Belgrade with great optimism and enthusiasm. Our expectation is that this event will serve as a powerful platform to build relationships, exchange knowledge, and inspire innovation across nations and cultures,” Mbadi said.

He added that Uganda intends to use the platform to deepen its integration into the global economy.

“Uganda comes to Expo 2027 Belgrade with the goal of leveraging the opportunity to strengthen our integration into the global economy through trade, investment, and a strong country brand, fostering effective global partnerships for social and economic transformation.

We also look forward to contributing to global conversations on shared challenges, particularly in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, while learning from innovations and ideas presented by other participating nations,” Mbadi said.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Mbadi held bilateral talks with Serbia’s State Minister for Foreign and Domestic Trade, Jagoda Lazarevic, and the Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dusan Kozarev, aimed at deepening economic and trade cooperation and strengthening ties between Uganda and Serbia.

Uganda’s participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade is expected to enhance its global visibility, promote exports, and attract new investment opportunities as the country seeks to expand its footprint in international trade.
