Africa-Press – Uganda. The Archbishop of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda, Samuel Kajoba, has expressed concern over growing divisions within the church, describing them as “acts of Satan” that are weakening the body of Christ.

Kajoba made the remarks while presiding over the installation of the new North Buganda Field (NBF) bishop, George Wilson Sekaggo, during a ceremony held at Luweero SDA Church.

“I am saddened by the spirit that has crept into the church, characterized by criticism, insults, and lack of respect among believers,” Kajoba said. “These are not fruits of the Spirit, but acts of the enemy intended to divide us.”

He urged Christians to return to the core values of love, unity, and humility, emphasizing that the strength of the church lies in togetherness.

During the ceremony, Kajoba officially installed Sekaggo as bishop of North Buganda Field and tasked him with shepherding the flock with dedication and integrity.

“I call upon you, Pr. Sekaggo, to remain focused on your mission,” he said. “Lead with love, stay grounded in the Word, and do not be swayed by the challenges of the world you are called to serve in.”

He also appealed to believers to support their new leader.

“Work hand in hand with your bishop. The mission of the church requires unity and cooperation,” he added.

Kajoba further installed other leaders, including Joshua Wasswa as Executive Secretary and Jonathan Nsibambi as Treasurer of the field.

Hundreds of Seventh-day Adventist faithful from the districts of Luweero District, Nakaseke District, and Nakasongola District gathered at the SDA headquarters in Luweero to witness the installation. The event attracted religious leaders from various denominations, government officials, and cultural leaders.

Among the dignitaries present was the Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Industry), David Bahati, alongside officials from the Buganda Kingdom.

In his acceptance speech, Sekaggo pledged to transform the North Buganda Field through evangelism and spiritual revival.

“I commit myself to preaching the gospel and strengthening the faith of believers,” he said. “With God’s guidance, we shall uplift this field and expand the mission of the church.”

Sekaggo becomes the second bishop of North Buganda Field since its establishment in 2021, succeeding David Ssimwogerere.

Leaders at the event, led by the Deputy Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement, Rose Namayanja, used the platform to raise concerns to the government, particularly over the planned eviction of roadside traders, which they said could negatively affect livelihoods.

Responding to the concerns, Bahati reassured the gathering of government support.

“We are committed to improving livelihoods,” he said. “In the 2026/2027 financial year, the government has allocated Shs 20 billion to establish a pineapple processing factory in Luweero to support farmers and reduce post-harvest losses.”

He also commended the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its continued collaboration with the government in community development initiatives.

North Buganda Field comprises five zones—North Bulemeezi, South Bulemeezi, West Bulemeezi, Central Bulemeezi, and Buluuli—and covers a total of 18 districts.
