Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda Revenue Authority has announced that it is recruiting 261 employees to fill vacancies in different departments of the institution.
The positions are in revenue, auditing, communications, ICT, engineering, transportation, legal and other administrative fields.
Ms Diana Kisaka, the acting commissioner in charge of corporate services, said it is the biggest recruitment exercise since a major restructuring in 2002, following recommendations by the Justice Julia Sebutinde-led commission of inquiry into corruption at the tax body.
The URA says it is seeking to recruit individuals with proven integrity, analytical and problem-solving skills. The deadline for submission of applications is May 1. All applications must be submitted online. Mr Ian Muhimbise Rumanyika, URA’s acting assistant commissioner of public and corporate affairs, confirmed the exercise.
Asked about the reason for the unprecedented massive recruitment, Mr Rumanyika said it is a ‘normal process’.
“People leave but also new positions are created depending on the tax body’s demands in terms of services. So it is a normal recruitment,” he said.
