Africa-Press – Uganda. Religious Leaders of Nansana Municipality have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, urging Ugandans to vote for him in the upcoming elections in appreciation of the freedom of worship enjoyed by people of different faiths.
Led by the Worship House Church pastor in Nansana, Pastor Willison Bugembe, said President Museveni’s leadership has enabled born-again Christians and other religious groups to practice their faith freely, contributing to peace and moral transformation in the country.
“Many born-again Christians have been able to build churches, and many Ugandans have been saved from wrongful practices,” Pastor Bugembe said. “This has laid a strong foundation for peace in our country.”
Pastor Bugembe recounted challenges faced by born-again Christians in the early days of their worship, noting that they were often blocked and harassed.
“When we started worshipping, many people used to come out to block and harass us,” he said. “But President Museveni you did not allow anyone to take away our freedom to worship.”
He also praised President Museveni for what he described as strong family values and faith in God, citing the family of the President’s daughter to a pastor as a positive sign.
Wakiso District Kadhi, Erias Kigozi, echoed the sentiments, assuring the President of overwhelming support from the district.
“The people of Wakiso love you very much,” Kadhi Kigozi said. “We promise to give you our votes.”
The group further noted that for the 40 years they have lived without witnessing war, they continue to pray that peace prevails in the country.
Meanwhile, the NRM flag bearer for the Busiro North Member of Parliament seat Moses Mayanja appealed to President Museveni to prioritise Wakiso District, particularly through the construction of markets to help traders relocate from road reserves where they currently operate.
Large crowds of residents gathered at Kawanda Research Center in Nansana Division to welcome President Museveni and listen to his message during the visit, signaling strong support for the NRM flag bearer in the area.
