Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have promoted 1,393 more officers to various ranks in addition to the 40 earlier promoted.
“H.E the President and Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples ‘ Defence Forces [Yoweri Museveni] on top of the General Officers recently promoted has also promoted more 1,393 UPDF personnel to various ranks,” reads part of the statement issued by UPDF spokesperson, Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso.Those promoted include the deputy army spokesperson, Lt Col Deo Akiiki, and Lt Col Edith Nakalema, both promoted to full colonels. “The UPDF fraternity continues to congratulate the promoted officers for their patriotic service to our motherland Uganda,” UPDF spokesperson, Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso, said in a statement. Those promoted include 106 officers to Colonel, 191 officers from Major to Lieutenant Colonel and 173 from Captain to Major.
