Africa-Press – Uganda. Each level completed by the contractor requires a certificate of expenditure from the district engineer. Due to limited funds, we had to pause construction until we could accumulate enough money to proceed significantly
Construction of Kitagwenda District’s administration block is set to resume after the district received Shs 300 million from the Ministry of Finance for the third quarter.
The development brings relief to district officials who have been struggling with limited office space, which has affected service delivery.
Janitah Nakityo, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), told Nile Post that the district has been receiving Shs 100 million per quarter, an amount she said was insufficient to make substantial progress.
“Each level completed by the contractor requires a certificate of expenditure from the district engineer. Due to limited funds, we had to pause construction until we could accumulate enough money to proceed significantly,” Nakityo explained.
With the latest funding, she said, the district has now entered the procurement process, and construction is expected to resume soon.
District staff, who have been operating under challenging conditions, are optimistic that completing the administration block will provide a better working environment and improve service delivery.
Once finished, the building will offer much-needed office space, enabling government officials to execute their duties more efficiently. This marks a significant step in Kitagwenda’s development, ensuring improved governance and service provision for the community.
