Africa-Press – Uganda. Rose Nabwire has been elected as the 28th guild president of Makerere University Business School (MUBS).
Her victory marks a significant milestone as she becomes the second female to hold this position in the last 12 years.
In a closely contested election held on Tuesday, Nabwire secured 2,255 votes, beating six other candidates.
Her closest rival, Henry Lukwago, received 1,242 votes, while Taban Ambaho, affiliated with the National Resistance Movement, garnered 827 votes.
The university announced Nabwire’s victory on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Rose Nabwire is the newly elected MUBS guild president. She has obtained the highest number of votes in a tightly contested guild presidential race. Congratulations Rose!” the university confirmed Nabwire’s victory on X (formerly Twitter).
A former student of Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School, Nabwire previously served as the vice guild president at the Nakawa-based university.
She will succeed Moses Amanya, the outgoing guild president of MUBS.
