Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has sounded an alarm over fraudulent staff recruitment schemes orchestrated by an individual identified as Ssenyonjo Stephen.
In a public notice issued on April 28, 2025, UETCL clarified, “Management would like to clarify that these fraudulent recruitments are not in any way affiliated with the company.”
The suspect, whose photo was attached in the notice, has since been arrested and handed over to the authorities for further action.
UETCL emphasised its commitment to fair employment practices, stating, “UETCL is an equal opportunity employer. All job adverts are advertised in the local newspapers, UETCL website & verified social media platforms and DO NOT require any payments.”
The company discouraged the public from engaging with unofficial recruitment offers and reiterated that no payment is needed to secure employment with UETCL.
The management urged heightened public vigilance, noting, “We urge the public to remain vigilant against potential scams and to verify any recruitment information directly through UETCL’s official communication channels.” Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities.
