Breaking: Fire Guts Muzirango Supermarket in Busega

Africa-Press – Uganda. A massive fire broke out at Muzirango Supermarket in Busega on Monday evening, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and drawing scores of onlookers.

The supermarket, located near the Shell fuel station in Busega, caught fire under unclear circumstances.

Witnesses said the flames erupted suddenly and spread quickly through the premises.

The blaze was so intense it could be seen from hundreds of metres away.

By press time, firefighters and locals were battling to contain the inferno amid fears it could spread to neighbouring businesses or pose danger to the nearby fuel station.

It was not immediately clear if there were any casualties or what triggered the fire.

Busega lies on the western edge of Kampala and serves as a major transit and commercial hub.

Situated at the intersection of Masaka Road and the Northern Bypass, it connects the capital to areas like Nateete, Mityana, and Masaka.

Authorities had cordoned off the area as emergency services responded, and traffic in and out of Busega was being diverted.
