Alupo Elected Unopposed as Katakiw District Veterans League Chairperson

Africa-Press – Uganda. Vice President Jessica Alupo has been declared the unopposed Chairperson of the Katakwi District NRM Veterans League after two aspirants stepped down from the race.

Addressing delegates, Alupo expressed gratitude for their support.

“I thank the delegates for electing me unopposed as chairperson of the NRM Veterans League in Katakwi District,” Alupo said.

She emphasized that the election process was free and fair, reflecting the core principles of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) nationalism, pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy.

Alupo praised the democratic nature of the exercise, noting that “the NRM government believes in people freely choosing their leaders.”

She urged all delegates to listen carefully to election officials and abide by the guidelines set by the NRM National Electoral Commission.

Alupo also called for peace and unity throughout the election period and beyond, underscoring that “keeping united will strengthen the NRM party and help transform our district and the country quickly.”

The Vice President endorsed the “lining” method used during the elections, highlighting its fairness, cost-effectiveness, and ability to deliver instant results.

She remarked that the nationwide participation in district-level elections demonstrates the strong national network of the NRM party and the confidence Ugandans have in its leadership.

Alupo further noted that the NRM and government have groomed leaders across all segments of society, including youth, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

She stressed that the party’s message is one of unity, non-discrimination, and transparency regardless of tribe, age, or gender.

In a call to action, the Vice President encouraged members of opposition parties such as NUP, FDC, and UPC to cross over and work with the NRM, citing the ruling party’s inclusiveness and advantages.

“I urge all Ugandans to work together through the NRM government and party to transform our country,” Alupo.
