Africa-Press – Uganda. The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has commended Nelson Byaruhanga, proprietor of Praise Hot Pot in Rukungiri Municipality, for his generosity in marking the third anniversary of Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe’s episcopal ministry.

Byaruhanga funded meals, tents, and decorations for thousands of attendees across a three-day celebration in the Church of Uganda’s North Kigezi Diocese.

According to accounts shared during the event, Byaruhanga’s journey is rooted in a personal transformation two years ago during a diocesan prayer and fasting day, where he accepted salvation while Bishop Asiimwe was preaching.

Since then, he says his life and business have grown significantly, including expanding his ventures and undertaking international travel.

In fulfillment of a personal vow of thanksgiving, Byaruhanga offered to fully cater the anniversary celebrations.

Activities began on Friday evening with a dinner for more than 200 guests at the Bishop’s residence, welcoming Archbishop Kaziimba and other dignitaries.

On Saturday, more than 1,000 people were served lunch at St. Paul’s Kasoroza in Nyakagyeme, before the celebrations concluded on Sunday at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasano, where more congregants received meals.

In addition to the catering, Byaruhanga provided tents and decorations for all the events, reinforcing what church leaders described as a gesture of gratitude and service.

Archbishop Kaziimba praised the act, pointing to it as an example of how faith can transform lives and inspire generosity.

“God has a tendency of picking a nobody to become somebody in front of everybody without consulting anybody,” he said.

Church leaders and congregants said the celebrations not only marked a milestone in Bishop Asiimwe’s ministry but also reflected the growing culture of giving and community support within the diocese.
