Look around you this festive season and spread the love by blessing someone. While others will be making merry, spare a percentage of your grocery shopping to meet a need. You can, for example, bless the sick by buying for them drinking water, energy drinks, fruits, bread, milk and sugar. You can even just use a budget of sh50,000 to do this.Charitable organisation Identify a charitable organisation this season with values that you are passionate about and give them what you can.

Better still, involve the children. It would have been nice to take them physically there, but since we are also trying to stay safe from COVID, it is better to involve them scientifically. For example, you could bake cookies or cook together and them send over lunch or ask them to help pick out the perfect donation or gift. Let them collect their old toys, clothes still in good condition and send them to an orphanage. It is a great lesson in empathy and generosity. You could also take advantage of the flea markets in the suburbs like Nakawa, Kamwokya and Kireka to buy cheap secondhand clothing for as low as sh1,000 and give to charity.
