Bobi Says Another NUP Supporter Abducted in Kampala

Africa-Press – Uganda. National Unity Platform president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine has sounded the alarm over the alleged abduction of Zaidi Mohammed, a staunch supporter of the party, from his boda boda stage along Kampala Road, Butabika, Nakawa Division.

In a post shared on his official “X” (formerly Twitter) account, Kyagulanyi stated, “The criminals continue to abduct our people! Zaidi Mohammed, a strong NUP supporter, has just been abducted from his boda boda stage on Kampala Road, Butabika, Nakawa.”

“He was taken by five men and one woman, all in civilian clothes and heavily armed. They were driving a white Toyota Noah, license plate number UBM 996E, and were seen heading towards Lugogo bypass on breakneck speed!”

The latest development is part of a troubling pattern of disappearances and enforced abductions targeting opposition figures and supporters, particularly those affiliated with the NUP.

Some have later reappeared, often after prolonged detention without charge, while others remain unaccounted for.

Many of those who have returned have reported hallowing tales of torture at the hands of security.

Previously, Kyagulanyi condemned these acts, further accusing the government of framing opposition supporters while allowing perpetrators to operate with impunity.

“Those who abduct and torture our people under the guise of teaching them languages that are not theirs are roaming around free, while the regime continues to frame those opposed to the regime,” Kyagulanyi said recently.

These abductions are said to have stifled the party’s ability to organize, mobilize, and participate effectively in Uganda’s political process.

Supporters says they live in fear, undermining grassroots activism and limiting freedom of expression.
