Africa-Press – Uganda. The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has officially crossed a major milestone in its political journey, with party president Erias Lukwago confirming that the legal registration process is now complete.
“We finalized with the process of registering PFF,” Lukwago declared on Monday, stating that all requirements under the Political Parties and Organizations Act had been met.
His announcement ends weeks of speculation about the party’s legal standing.
To remove any lingering doubts, Lukwago revealed that he directly contacted Justice Simon Byabakama, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
“To remove any doubt, I called Justice Byabakama,” he said, emphasizing the urgency of confirming PFF’s status.
According to Lukwago, the only remaining step is a procedural one: the Electoral Commission is expected to gazette a notice of the registration under Sections 7 and 8 of the Act.
“This week, in section 7 and 8 of the Political Parties and Organizations Act, the EC is supposed to put a notice in the gazette about PFF being registered as a political party,” he explained.
With the registration now functionally complete, Lukwago is urging supporters to shift gears into full mobilization mode.
“If PFF is a flight, it’s a flight we are on the runway—and once we are on the runway, no turning back. The only thing you have to do is take off,” he said. “However, when you are taking off, there are safeguards.”
While the party awaits the official certificate of registration, Lukwago said the political work must begin immediately.
“As the leadership, we are going to secure the certificate. But as we wait for it, the drive should start in all spheres of the country to proceed with recruitment and leave no stone unturned.”
He also reaffirmed that the legal processes had been completed lawfully and transparently, adding, “Byabakama is accountable to us. What is pending is the EC’s internal process.”
This declaration marks the start of what could be a new and potentially turbulent chapter in Uganda’s political arena.
PFF, now officially taking shape as a registered party, is positioning itself as a formidable force in the opposition space—ready to organize, recruit, and challenge the status quo.
