Africa-Press – Uganda. The Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board (BHTB) has officially launched the 5th Annual Miss Tourism Buganda Kingdom Campaign, an event aimed at promoting Buganda’s rich culture and tourism potential.

The launch took place on March 28, 2025, at the Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education, Mengo Kakeeka.

The prestigious event provides a platform for young women from all 18 counties of Buganda Kingdom to showcase their beauty, talent, and cultural heritage.

Contestants will compete for the title of Miss Tourism Buganda 2025, under this year’s theme, “I Am My Culture.”

Speaking at the launch, Mr Anthony Wamala, the Buganda Kingdom Minister for Culture, who served as the chief guest, emphasized the significance of the pageant in preserving Buganda’s traditions.

“Miss Tourism Buganda celebrates the rich culture, beauty, and heritage of our kingdom, and I am proud to witness the young women representing all 18 counties,” he said.

“Together, we continue to promote Buganda’s values and traditions, ensuring they are cherished for generations to come.”

BHTB Executive Director, Mr. Najib Nsubuga, highlighted the competition’s role in enhancing tourism within the kingdom.

“The Miss Tourism Buganda competition not only promotes our cultural heritage but also encourages the development of tourism in our region. We invite young women from across Buganda to participate and represent the heart of our kingdom,” Nsubuga stated.

The event also featured an address from Queen Namale Kaisha, the reigning Miss Tourism Buganda 2024, who underscored the platform’s impact on Buganda’s cultural identity and global recognition.

“This launch marks the beginning of an exciting journey as young women from across Buganda compete for the title, which will spotlight Buganda as the gateway to the Pearl of Africa and further strengthen its reputation as a top tourist destination,” Queen Namale said.

The Miss Tourism Buganda Kingdom contest is an initiative of the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board (BHTB), which is dedicated to preserving and promoting the kingdom’s cultural heritage while boosting tourism and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
