Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda’s long-distance star Joshua Cheptegei delivered a thrilling performance on Sunday morning, claiming victory at the Burj2Burj Half Marathon held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Cheptegei crossed the finish line first in a time of 59 minutes and 26 seconds, sealing a hard-fought win.

The race produced a dramatic finish, with Kenya’s Nicholas Kipkorir pushing the Ugandan champion all the way to the line. Kipkorir settled for second place just two seconds behind, clocking 59:28.

Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu completed the podium after an equally impressive run, finishing third in 59:30, only four seconds behind the winner in a tightly packed top three.

Cheptegei’s triumph adds another major road racing milestone to his decorated career, which already includes multiple world titles on the track and a reputation as one of the finest distance runners of his generation.

The Burj2Burj Half Marathon, staged along Dubai’s iconic skyline, continues to attract elite athletes from across Africa and beyond, offering a fast course and high-level competition.
