Africa-Press – Uganda. A group of children of army veterans, united under the umbrella organization “United Children of Army Forces,” has officially declared their full support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming general elections.
The group, which comprises the sons and daughters of military veterans who fought in Uganda’s liberation struggle, expressed their unwavering commitment to campaigning for the President and ensuring his victory in the forthcoming polls.
Speaking during a press conference at Kololo Grounds in Kampala, the group announced that they are ready and organised to mobilise support for President Museveni, emphasising their role in safeguarding the peace and stability that the country has achieved under his leadership.
“We have come out to campaign for President Museveni in the elections. We are ready to work hand in hand with the NRM party to ensure his decisive victory,” said one of the group’s spokespersons, highlighting their strong bond and shared vision for Uganda’s continued progress.
The group, many of whom are children of veterans who fought in the 1980s liberation war, underscored their belief in the principles of peace, unity, and development that President Museveni has championed throughout his presidency.
They pledged to work tirelessly in the election campaign, urging the NRM Secretariat to recognise their efforts and provide them with a platform to further their activities in solidarity with the ruling party.
“We cannot sit back and watch opposition parties undermine the peace and stability our fathers fought for. As children of these veterans, it is our duty to defend the progress Uganda has made under the leadership of President Museveni,” the spokesperson added.
In addition to their political support, the group also revealed that they have developed several social and development programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of youth and families of veterans across the country.
These initiatives, they said, are intended to extend the benefits of Uganda’s development to those who have directly contributed to the nation’s peace and freedom.
They are now calling on President Museveni to lend his support to these programs, which they believe could have a profound impact on their communities.
“We have several initiatives in place, and with the support of President Museveni, we can expand them further to reach more people and uplift the lives of our veterans’ families and the youth across the country,” said one of the group’s members, outlining the group’s development goals.
The initiative has already attracted significant interest from other children of army veterans who are not yet part of the group but are eager to join and contribute to its efforts. Many expressed their desire to unite with their colleagues to strengthen the group’s influence and ensure that they are well-informed about government development programs.
In their call for support, the group also emphasised the importance of national unity, urging all Ugandans, especially the youth, to join them in building a stronger, more prosperous Uganda under President Museveni’s continued leadership.
As the general elections approach, the “United Children of Army Forces” have committed to making a tangible impact on the political landscape, emphasising their loyalty to the NRM and their determination to see President Museveni re-elected for another term.
Through their activism, the children of army veterans are positioning themselves as key players in the upcoming election campaign, working to ensure that the legacy of their fathers’ sacrifices continues to guide the future of Uganda.
