Africa-PressUganda. CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Politicians have been urged to love one another, but also largely to play a cardinal role of ensuring Ugandans remain united during the 2021 political processes.

The call was made by the Archdeacon of All Saints Church-Mbarara, Rev. Canon. Nathan Bobs Mwesigye during his Christmas sermon.Mwesigye said politicians command a big following of voters and warned that their actions should never focus on dividing Ugandans but to keep them working together.”I encourage politicians to love one another, why do you hate each other? Uganda is for all of us and we need to live together in harmony and peace. Let’s chase away the spirit of selfishness and restlessness,” Mwesigye stated.

He challenged Christians in the archdeacon and other parts of the country to give their life to God and fight acts of domestic violence, child sacrifice among others. “The world is tired, the whole world is confused, that’s the reason why Jesus is coming today, acts of child sacrifice, domestic violence are increasing, let’s get back to God,” he added.

Rev. Canon John Mugirindabigwe who led the first service asked Ugandans to hold on to the SOPs set by the ministry of health, telling them that COVID-19 still exists and kills. He discouraged them from going into celebrations that will put their life at risk of getting COVID-19.Rev. Emmanuel Munaneza, one of the culets at All Saints, encouraged Christians to keep their children at home during this Christmas celebration. He said that at All Saints they will only accept children who are going to be baptized and the rest should keep in their homes.”Our children are vulnerable to this killer COVID-19, you must keep them at home, at All Saints we have decided not allow children in our services, let them remain at home, we have put up good messages for them which will be delivered to them on radios and social media,” Munyaneza added.Mwesigye commended Christians who remained committed to the church during the trying period of COVID-19.Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi, the mayor of Mbarara City and the aspiring candidate for the same seat promised for a united move for all the people of Mbarara in the neighborhoods.
