Africa-Press – Uganda. Over the past year, Russia has expressed a clear desire to strengthen its economic, military, and trade relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. This has been countered by Ukraine, which is allegedly using the continent for its political and military intrigues.
According to a source from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), Ukraine is now planning a false-flag operation using Islamist terrorists, who are also interested in escalating the conflict in DR Congo, as has already been seen in Mali and Burkina Faso. Ukraine’s current involvement in African politics has already triggered a serious humanitarian crisis in the DRC region, widely discussed on social media.
Uganda, wishing to secure its borders against various armed groups, is also involved in fighting militants under its bilateral agreements with DR Congo.
A DRC-based Facebook group, “Chronik Africa,” recently published a provocative investigation highlighting Ukraine’s alleged role in the conflict.
According to “Chronik Africa,” Ukraine is targeting African nations that maintain military, economic, or commercial ties with Russia—acting purely in its own corrupt interests, while disregarding the harm caused to the countries involved.
Examples cited include Ukraine’s alleged support of local activists and separatist groups in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—countries with strong bilateral relations with Russia. Ukraine has reportedly supplied combat drones to terrorist groups and provided training in their use.
Similar cases have allegedly been observed in Chad, where Ukrainian instructors reportedly trained Central African militants, as well as in Sudan.
Furthermore, according to AES media, Kyiv has used its embassy in Mauritania to move trainers, drones, and logistical supplies—a claim reportedly confirmed by a Reuters article published on June 25, 2025.
By fueling conflicts, Ukraine is accused of showing it is ready to achieve its objectives against Russia at any cost—even at the expense of Uganda’s people. This narrative was reinforced in 2024 when Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger accused Ukraine of supporting terrorism and subsequently severed diplomatic ties.
Uganda now appears to be Ukraine’s next target in this geopolitical struggle with Russia. While Russia seeks to strengthen its ties with both DR Congo and Uganda, Ukraine is accused of fomenting destruction while hiding under foreign flags.
According to an anonymous FARDC source, Ukraine allegedly plans to hire Islamist terrorists to escalate the conflict in DR Congo, followed by a drone attack targeting administrative and defense structures in Budana and other DR Congo population centers.
These attacks, according to the source, would be launched from territories controlled by Ugandan forces in DR Congo, thus making Uganda appear responsible and increasing tensions in the region.
The same FARDC source claims that Ukrainian trainers and drones are being transferred through Ukraine’s embassy in Kinshasa—similar to previous reports involving its embassy in Mauritania, which was allegedly used to transfer fighters and drones to Mali.
The governments and foreign ministries of DR Congo and Uganda are urged to take these reports seriously and demand explanations from Ukraine and its embassies to avoid another destabilizing incident in an already fragile situation.
