Democratic Front Welcomes Ssimbwa and Others after NUP Expulsion

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Democratic Front (DF) has officially welcomed Nakifuma MP Ssimbwa Fred Kaggwa and several other politicians into its ranks following their recent expulsion from the National Unity Platform (NUP).

The induction ceremony was held at DF offices in Mengo and presided over by Mathias Mpuuga, the party’s founder and leader.

Mpuuga described the move as a sign of growth and stability within DF, highlighting the party’s commitment to attracting individuals who share a vision of building a disciplined, values-driven political organization.

“This shows that our leadership is focused and organized. We are bringing together people with a shared vision to build a strong political institution. The Democratic Front is in a mobilization phase, and our doors remain open to all who believe in our principles,” Mpuuga said.

Among those received were Fred Ssimbwa Kaggwa (Nakifuma), Wilson Male (former Mukono South parliamentary aspirant), Aida Nakuya (former Kampala Woman MP aspirant), and Annet Nakyanja (Wakiso Woman representative).

Mpuuga reaffirmed DF’s commitment to transparency, unity, and patriotism, emphasizing that the party seeks to build a lasting political culture rooted in integrity and service.

He noted that DF’s emblem, the shining mvule tree, symbolizes strength, resilience, and national growth.

“We are building a party on firm principles. Ugandans deserve visionary and stable leaders, not opportunists who switch allegiances for convenience. I commend Honourable Ssimbwa and his colleagues for their courage and preparedness to lead with integrity,” he said.

In his remarks, Ssimbwa expressed disappointment over his expulsion from NUP, describing it as “unfair and undemocratic.”

He said his efforts to raise legitimate concerns were ignored and that he was never given a fair hearing.

“I raised genuine concerns in good faith, but instead of dialogue, I was silenced. I found in the Democratic Front a spirit of unity, respect, and brotherhood that I had long been searching for,” Ssimbwa said, pledging to work with DF to advance its mission across the country.

He also advised young Ugandans aspiring to join politics to remain independent-minded and cautious of self-serving politicians.

“Always analyze situations critically and make decisions based on principle, not emotion,” he urged.

DF continues to position itself as a values-based alternative in Uganda’s political landscape, with leadership emphasizing patriotism, ethical governance, and social transformation.

Mpuuga said the party plans to intensify mobilization efforts and unveil its broader national agenda before the end of the year.
