Africa-Press – Uganda. The government of the Republic of Uganda recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Presight, a global provider of big data analytics and artificial intelligence solutions. The signing of the MoU ceremony took place at the State House Uganda in Kampala, during an official State visit by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The MoU ceremony
The MoU was signed between Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, Executive Director of NITA-U who signed on behalf of Uganda. Presight was represented by Sheik Muhammad Shameen Hosenbocus, Vice President for Africa and LATAM, and Mohammed AlMheiri, Chief Business Officer for Public Safety & Security. The event was also attended by several dignitaries, including H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, H.E. Abdullah Hassan Obaid AlShamsi, UAE Ambassador to Uganda. This agreement formalised a strategic partnership between Presight and Uganda through the National Information Technology Authority (NITA-U).
Intent
The collaboration between Uganda and Presight through NITA-U on a high-priority digital transformation initiative aimed at advancing the country’s digital transformation efforts. The MoU outlines the framework for close collaboration between Presight and NITA-U on high-priority digital transformation initiatives aligned with Uganda’s National Development Plan III. The MoU marks a significant step in Presight’s expansion across Africa and demonstrates its commitment to supporting sustainable and inclusive development through advanced AI technologies. The collaboration will focus on high-impact digital transformation initiatives aligned with Uganda’s National Development Plan III. Key priorities: – The key priorities include bolstering national cybersecurity infrastructure, upgrading government cloud and electronic services, streamlining Information Communication Technology (ICT) procurement processes and performing feasibility and cost analysis for upcoming tech projects. In addition, the agreement aims to generate local job opportunities through the implementation of these initiatives
Task description
According to the signed agreement, NITA-U will coordinate the identification of priority projects and establish a Technical Steering Committee with members from NITA-U, the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), and other relevant government bodies. Presight will contribute technical expertise, conduct assessments, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Presight Thomas Pramotedham said that they were delighted to collaborate with Uganda’ in this project. “We’re proud to join hands with the Government of Uganda in this pivotal partnership. At Presight, we strongly believe in the power of Applied AI to solve national challenges and uplift communities. According to Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, Executive Director of NITA-U, the partnership between Uganda and Presight on this project will amplify the country’s capacity to implement smart. “At NITA-U, we’re driven by a vision of a digitally empowered government and society. This collaboration with Presight will enhance our capacity to implement smart, secure, and citizen-centric solutions. Previously confirmed its participation at GITEX Africa 2025. The announcement highlighted the company’s expanding footprint across the African continent. Africa is a key market for Presight. The company is currently active in Angola, Congo, Gambia, Mauritius, Seychelles, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia and the latest country to partner with Presight is Uganda. The company is aiming at AI solutions, already proven in the UAE, to address real-world challenges in Africa. Through its Applied Intelligence approach, Presight aims to unlock value in sectors like public services, smart cities, energy, and finance.
