Africa-Press – Uganda. Ibrahim Kasozi has officially declared his intention to contest for Lord Mayor of Kampala in the upcoming elections. The former Member of Parliament visited the home of retired Deputy Chief Justice Waswa Lule, seeking guidance and support as he prepares to challenge the incumbent, Erias Lukwago.
During a private visit, Kasozi expressed his desire to transform Kampala, describing the capital as a national city that deserves inclusive leadership and structured development.
“The reason I am here is to seek advice from my elders. I will not disappoint you. I want to lead the capital in a manner based on communication and engagement. Kampala is not just a city; it is a stakeholder city that belongs to all Ugandans,” Ibrahim said.
Justice Waswa Lule, son of the late former President Yusuf Lule, welcomed Kasozi’s gesture and emphasised the importance of inclusive leadership.
“Kampala has many challenges and is home to people of different backgrounds. A leader must reach out to everyone. You are not just a leader of your religion or group,you serve all, said. The fact that he came to me shows responsibility and maturity. It is a sign that he values wisdom and national unity.”Lule said.
Kasozi’s visit highlights the growing political momentum around the Lord Mayor position, with key figures beginning to align ahead of the campaign season. His outreach to Lule is seen as a strategic move to gain credibility and counsel within influential political circles.
