Africa-Press – Uganda. In a bid to promote environmental sustainability and financial literacy among Uganda’s youth, ICEA LION Group has extended its Go-Green Campaign to Peace High School in Wakiso District.

The initiative saw the insurance and investment firm plant 300 trees and donate water purifiers to the school community.

A total of 80 fruit trees were planted on the school premises, while 220 additional trees were allocated to the school’s farm. The tree-planting activity forms part of ICEA LION’s broader Go-Green Campaign, which seeks to plant 2,400 trees across selected schools in Uganda while integrating financial literacy sessions for students.

According to Moses Mugalu, Communication and Marketing Lead at ICEA LION, the campaign aims to nurture both an environmentally conscious and financially enlightened generation.

“As we give you these seedlings today, we are certain that you will nurture them so that they grow into the kind of future we all envision — clean, green, and sustainable,” Mugalu remarked during the event.

Beyond tree planting, Peace High School also received eight water purifiers from Spouts of Water, an organization working in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Environment, the World Health Organization (WHO), and independent laboratories.

The ceramic water filters, which require no electricity, charcoal, or firewood, are designed to provide safe drinking water while reducing household expenses and environmental impact.

ICEA LION’s Go-Green Campaign has already reached several schools, including St. Mark’s College Namagoma (60 trees), City High School (100 trees), Mother Kevin Primary School (400 trees), Padre Pio Primary School, and Exodus College in Wakiso District, which have collectively benefited from 1,005 tree seedlings.

As the campaign continues to roll out across more schools, ICEA LION remains steadfast in its mission to plant 2,400 trees before the end of the year — a reflection of its long-term commitment to fostering a greener, more sustainable, and financially aware Uganda.
