Africa-Press – Uganda. Java House, East Africa’s leading coffee-led restaurant brand, has opened its 100th outlet in Rubaga, Kampala, cementing its position as one of the region’s fastest-growing hospitality chains.
The launch of the Rubaga branch marks a significant milestone in the company’s 26-year journey, which began with a single coffee shop in Nairobi in 1999.
Java House is a household name across Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, serving millions of customers through its network of restaurants and express outlets.
Speaking at the opening, Ms. Eusila Jepleting, General Manager of Java House Uganda, described the achievement as a testament to customer loyalty and the company’s focus on quality and community.
“The Express format has proven to be a game changer for our urban customers. It gives us the flexibility to meet people where they are—in their commute, in their errands, or in their quick breaks—without losing the warmth that defines Java House,” she said.
The Rubaga outlet adopts the brand’s “Express” concept, designed for customers with busy lifestyles who want a quick but satisfying coffee, meal, or pastry. Similar models have already been rolled out in Najjera and Muyenga. Despite the grab-and-go setup, Java House says its signature African hospitality remains central to the experience.
The choice of Rubaga was deliberate, according to the company, with the area’s vibrant community, schools, places of worship, and professionals making it an ideal location.
The outlet is also expected to create jobs, support local suppliers, and contribute to the area’s economy.
Java House’s regional strategy emphasizes investing in local talent, sourcing ingredients locally, and tailoring experiences to reflect the culture and habits of each community.
The brand has also expanded its digital presence, with partnerships on delivery platforms such as Glovo and the introduction of healthier menu options.
Reflecting on the milestone, Ms. Jepleting paid tribute to customers and staff who have fueled the brand’s growth.
“Every cup and plate we serve is a reflection of the trust our customers place in us. From our humble beginnings to now being East Africa’s largest coffee chain, we are proud to carry the flag for African brands that dare to dream big,” she said.
