Africa-Press – Uganda. Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has hailed deceased Bukoola Chemical Industries proprietor Dr. Paul Mawanda Kyabaggu as a distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist, and visionary leader.
Kyabaggu, who passed away on Saturday in India at the age of 80, leaves behind a remarkable legacy in education, industry, and public service.
In a official condolence message delivered by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, during a funeral service held at St. Nazareth Catholic Church Kannabulemu in Kyotera District on Friday, the Kabaka described Kyabaggu as an “esteemed elder” whose contributions have touched countless lives across Buganda and Uganda at large.
“The people of Buganda received the news of the passing on of our esteemed elder, Omulangira Paul Mawanda Kyabaggu, with great sadness. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, the people of Buganda, and friends who have lost a valued member,” Kabaka said.
“Omulangira Mawanda was a generous and dedicated servant to the kingdom. He made significant contributions to the initiatives of Her Royal Highness the Nnabagereka at her school, and his service to society will always be remembered.”
Kyabaggu’s entrepreneurial achievements were celebrated both nationally and internationally. Under his leadership, Bukoola Chemical Industries Ltd (BCIL) became a household name both in Uganda and on the continent.
Beyond business, Kyabaggu’s commitment to education was evident through the founding of St. Joseph of Nazareth Secondary School and St. Simon Nazareth Primary School, institutions that have shaped the futures of countless young Ugandans.
“We thank God for the many gifts He granted the late prince: his industriousness, his humility, and his unwavering support to the community. He was a principled leader who made lasting contributions to education and business in our nation,” Kabaka Mutebi added.
The funeral service attracted hundreds of mourners, including Buganda princes , business partners, family, colleagues, and friends.
