Africa-Press – Uganda. Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa has been installed as the new President of the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes, committing to a year of impactful community service driven by scripture, compassion, and purpose.

The installation ceremony, held at Serena Kigo, drew several high-profile guests, including Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa and Rotary District Governor Edward Kyeyune Kawooya.

“This year, we’re living the spirit of service,” Kariisa declared, quoting both the Qur’an and the Bible to underscore his dedication to serving Uganda’s most vulnerable communities.

“These words shall guide us. We’ll walk that talk through transformative projects across Uganda.”

Among the headline initiatives Kariisa unveiled is the construction of 14 classrooms at Kigo Prisons Primary School.

The project will also provide water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, along with essential learning materials aimed at improving educational outcomes for underprivileged pupils.

In a move to bolster maternal health, Kariisa announced the establishment of the Mama Kariisa Maternity Ward in Rubare.

The facility is expected to ease access to maternal care services for women in the region, a demographic often neglected in rural health interventions.

The club also plans to roll out quarterly medical camps offering free health checkups, community clean-ups, and direct healthcare interventions in underserved communities.

“These are beyond promises. They’re already happening, and I am confident we shall deliver them,” Kariisa told the gathering.

Fifteen new members were inducted into the club during the event, all as Paul Harris Fellows—an honor recognizing significant contributions to Rotary’s mission.

The milestone exceeded the club’s annual membership target and signaled rising momentum behind its efforts to expand Rotary’s presence and impact.

Kariisa took a moment to appreciate his wife, Judith Kariisa, for her encouragement and inspiration. “You are a special woman. Thank you for supporting me, and for inspiring me to become a Rotarian,” he said.

He also credited Rotary International Director Emmanuel Katongole and Dr. Jimmy Mugerwa for first introducing him to Rotary values during a visit to Next Media, an encounter that he said planted the seed for his current journey.

“I didn’t know that moment would plant a Rotary seed in me,” Kariisa reflected.

He expressed gratitude to District Governor Kyeyune Kawooya, the Action Board, the wider Rotary fraternity, and his colleagues at Next Media, pledging to work closely with all stakeholders to raise the visibility and impact of Rotary service across Uganda.
