Africa-Press – Uganda. In pretty much the same way Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA surprised everyone by hitting the road running this campaign, striker Davis Kasirye made his intentness statement early.

Five games into the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season and KCCA occupy the apex with 13 points – three ahead of second placed Vipers.

Kasirye, one of the six forwards at Byekwaso’s disposal is reborn at his new club, tucking away three goals thus far in a newfound partnership with Sadat Anaku.

The lanky former UPDF, Vipers and SC Villa forward was yesterday awarded the monthly Pilsner player of the month of February together with Byekwaso who picked up the coaches’ accolade.

“It’s been hard for me to return to this level. I give credit to the gaffer for the chance rendered to me, the trust he has in me, and the fellow players. This award is going to push me hard because I would love to appear again. I wouldn’t love this to stop,”said Kasirye, whose journeyman stance has also seen play at URA, Express, Bul, Rayon Sports, Motema Pembe and Zesco United.

In a bid to return to winning ways, Byekwaso has paraded Kasirye, Anaku,Brian Aheebwa, Sam Ssenyonjo, Brian Kayanja and Charles Lwanga to bang the goals and that healthy competition deters Kasirye from sitting on his laurels.

“ It is only through hard work that you will get a chance to play and I’m glad the goals are coming,” he noted.

This afternoon at the MTN Philip Omondi Stadium, Kasirye will face a UPDF side that he featured for last season as KCCA subjected them to a 6-1 punishment at the same venue.

“ I still have friends at UPDF but they know I’m here for business and will have no mercy when we get on the field,” he warned. Brian Ssenyondo’s UPDF sit fifth on the log with eight points after accruing a laboured 1-0 triumph over Mbarara City in their last match at Bombo.

Onen to reanimate Madondo

New Gaddafi coach Peter Onen’s first assignment is to aid forgotten striker Joel Madondo rediscover his scoring groove.Ahead of his first game this afternoon at the Gaddafi Arena in Jinja against fellow new league entrants Arua Hill, Onen believes they can attain much with Madondo firing again. He hasn’t scored yet even when saddled with hefty expectations.

“ When I came in a week ago, I first held a one on one meeting with Madondo and told him to forget his past stint in Morocco and Busoga United and move on.He is still young and will deliver,” Onen told Daily Monitor. Mubarak Wamboya had dragged Gaddafi to tenth before he was relegated to second deputy role.Livingstone Mbabazi’s sixth placed Kongolo head to Jinja with heads high after getting URA’s scalp in their last outing.
