Africa-Press – Uganda. Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa made a passionate endorsement of Uganda’s rugby scene after attending his first-ever rugby match between the Uganda Rugby Cranes and the Kenya Simbas. The high-stakes game, part of the ongoing Rugby Africa Cup 2025 qualifiers, unfolded at a packed stadium and delivered intense action, pride, and a growing sense of national support for the sport.

Though the Rugby Cranes narrowly lost to their Kenyan counterparts, Kariisa praised the team’s performance and the game-day atmosphere, calling it “high pressure, big hits, and incredible passion both on and off the pitch.” He emphasized the growing importance of rugby in Uganda’s sports landscape and pledged continued support from Next Media.

In a tweet after the match, he stated, “Hard luck to the boys and our partners at @UgandaRugby—we have something special here. If we keep the momentum, Ugandan rugby is only going one way: UP.”

Kariisa also lauded the work of NBS Sport, Uganda’s only 24/7 sports channel and the official broadcaster of the Rugby Africa Cup qualifiers. He commended the team for their “brilliant coverage” of the tournament, further cementing Next Media’s role in amplifying Uganda’s sports narrative.
