Africa-Press – Uganda. Karamoja region is celebrating a major milestone after Kezia Cindy Nachap from Kotido District was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda 2025/26 at a glamorous finale in Kampala.

Nachap, who had only finished as second runner-up at the Karamoja regional contest, stunned judges at the national level with her confidence, cultural showcase, and outstanding stage performance, eventually winning the coveted crown.

Speaking shortly after being crowned, a beaming Nachap said the victory was bigger than herself. She says she joined because she was inspired by this year’s theme.

“This crown is for Karamoja. Many people only know our region for conflict and hardship, but we are also a land of beauty, culture, and resilience. I want to use this platform to tell our story differently and attract visitors who will experience Karamoja’s uniqueness,” she said.

The head of the Miss Tourism Karamoja Cluster, Asumpta Ojao, described Nachap’s triumph as a turning point for the region.

> “Kezia’s victory is proof that Karamoja has talent and potential that can shine nationally and internationally. For a contestant who came third at the regional level to rise and become the national queen is a strong message of perseverance and hope for the girls of Karamoja,” Ojao said.

Miss Tourism Uganda, founded in 2013, is designed to promote culture, heritage, and tourism across 12 regional clusters. Contestants undergo boot camps, cultural exhibitions, and rigorous stage performances before the national crown is awarded.

This year’s edition ran under the theme “I Am My Culture”and, for the first time, included male participants as part of a drive to widen inclusivity in promoting tourism.

As Miss Tourism Uganda 2025/26, Nachap will represent the country at the Miss Tourism International pageant in Malaysia, serving as an ambassador for Uganda’s tourism industry on the global stage. She succeeds Atino Lucky Bianca from the Lango sub-region, who held the title last year.

Nachap promised to use her reign to change perceptions about Karamoja and inspire more young women to believe in themselves.
