Africa-Press – Uganda. The National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, has urged the people of Kitgum municipality to vote for the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) parliamentary candidate, Jimmy Olanya.
Kyagulanyi explained that his move to campaign for candidates from various opposition parties is aimed at uniting the Opposition.
“Some wonder why I go around endorsing candidates from different political parties. It is because we can only go to a new Uganda when we are united,” Kyagulanyi said.
The NUP leader asked all Ugandans from across the political, tribal and religious affiliations to work together to be able to achieve the desired change.
Kyagulanyi made the remarks during a rally in Kitgum. He reminded Kitgum voters that they have power to change the destiny of Uganda.
Kyagulanyi asked them to ensure he wins at every polling station.
“Museveni cannot manage our generation. We shall remove him from power. And if he tries to kill Ugandans like he did recently, he will end up like his friends Maummar Gadaffi and Omar Bashir,” Kyagulanyi said.
Talking about the poor state of health facilities in the area, the NUP leader promised that unlike the current government, his government would buy more drugs for hospitals and ambulances than teargas and police patrol cars.
“If we had good leaders who value the lives of Ugandans, we would have more ambulances than patrol cars and we would have more drugs than teargas,” he said.
Kyagulanyi argued that President Museveni is practising the very injustices he claimed he had gone to the bush to fight.
“Museveni picked guns and went to the bush claiming they had rigged elections. However, in the 1980 election, there was no teargas. No candidate had to put on bullet proof for fear of their lives.
“No candidate was blocked from using main roads and accessing towns like they are doing to me,” he said.
From Kitgum, Kyagulanyi drove to Karamoja, where he campaigned in Karenga district.
While in Karenga, he noted that Karamoja, with all kinds of minerals, would not be poor if there was a government that cared about their progress.
