Africa-Press – Uganda. Erias Lukwago has been appointed as the National Executive Chairperson of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) during the party’s national convention held at its headquarters in Katonga.

Lukwago, who also serves as the Lord Mayor and is a seasoned lawyer, now takes on a central leadership role in the party.

This appointment is seen as a major step towards strengthening the party by building robust structures and demonstrating good governance and leadership.

Lukwago will be deputised by a team of experienced leaders, including former MP Betty Awol Achan, new party darling Lulume Bayiga, and other representatives from different regions.

The appointment of Lukwago as National Executive Chairperson follows the general delegates’ conference that dissolved the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) on July 4, 2025, which was chaired by then-party chairperson Wasswa Biriggwa.

Lukwago’s leadership is expected to bring a new era of growth and development to the PFF, as the party prepares for the 2026 general elections. His experience as Lord Mayor and lawyer will undoubtedly be invaluable in shaping the party’s vision and strategy.

The People’s Front for Freedom is committed to promoting democracy, justice, and equality for all Ugandans. With Lukwago at the helm, the party is poised to play a significant role in shaping the country’s future.
