Machika Ignites Political Change in West Budama North East

Africa-Press – Uganda. The political tide in West Budama North East is shifting, as Richard Owere Machika makes a high-profile return to challenge long-serving MP Fox Odoi in the upcoming NRM primaries set for mid-July.

Machika, one of five aspirants seeking the ruling party’s flag, officially launched his campaign after a successful nomination, sparking a wave of enthusiasm across the constituency.

Hundreds of supporters joined him in a symbolic six-sub-county procession that signaled both his comeback and the growing desire for change.

His campaign trail kicked off in Senda Village, weaving through Kirewa, Soni, Paya, Sopsop, Nawire, and finally Sere sub-counties.

Along the route, energized supporters lined the roads, waving branches, chanting slogans, and voicing deep-seated frustrations over what they described as years of neglect under the incumbent.

“Our roads are impassable, children are dropping out of school, and clean water is still a dream,” said one resident, reflecting a common sentiment echoed throughout the day.

The climax of the launch came at Liwira Primary School playground in Sere Sub-county, where a large crowd gathered to hear Machika speak.

Addressing the constituents, he pledged to focus on critical service delivery issues if given the mandate, especially in the areas of infrastructure, education, and access to clean water.

“I am hopeful that the people will trust me with this responsibility,” Machika said. “I am ready to work, to listen, and to deliver real change.”

He also called for unity among the NRM contenders, urging all aspirants to rally behind whoever wins the party’s flag to ensure victory in the general election.

Despite Machika’s growing momentum, incumbent MP Fox Odoi remains unfazed.

“The voters know my track record. I trust they will renew my mandate,” he said in a brief comment addressing the growing intra-party challenge.

As the NRM primaries draw near, political observers note that the race in West Budama North East has become increasingly competitive, with service delivery emerging as the dominant campaign theme.

With mounting pressure for results, the outcome of the primaries could signal a new direction for the constituency.
