Africa-Press – Uganda. The commander of the Special Forces Command, Maj Gen David Mugisha has hailed the SFC team for winning the 17th edition of the CDF Cup in Masaka.
The SFC Director for Operations, Col Philip Mugizi, who represented Maj Gen David Mugisha, informed the participants that the Commander (Maj Gen Mugisha)— currently away on official duties — was pleased with their achievements.
He added that the Deputy Commander, Brig Gen Asaph Mweteise, Brig Gen Paul Namawa, and all the leaders of the SFC were equally proud of their accomplishments
Col Mugizi applauded the team for flying the SFC flag high.
“I appreciate your performance as it made us so proud. I am so happy; the deputy commander and the chief of staff are also so happy. We thank you so much. On behalf of the leadership, we are so happy,” he said.
He urged that the team trains so hard for the next edition of the games but also urged that every many other members of SFC are urged to participate.
“I appreciate the individual performance in shooting. We must train as many as many people as possible to participate. We must see new faces coming up but if we keep maintaining the same people, we shall not develop so next time.”
Maj Moses Kajimbi who led the SFC team said they field rangers and a football team in the 17 edition of the CDF Cup emerging winners in shooting with the light machine gun for both women and men. Best shooter match three, best shooter match one for men, best shooter match two in women’s category, best shooter match six for women, best shooter for moving target in women and men’s categories, best shooter in match four in pistol category and range champion.
“In Football, the SFC team displayed discipline, teamwork, and resilience, eventually defeating 3rd Division in the final to secure the football trophy. With victories in both range and football, SFC emerged the overall winner,” Maj Kajimbi said.
“The CDF Cup is not just a competition but a platform that sharpens skills and builds unity. For the military, it strengthens cohesion and morale across the UPDF while enhancing combat readiness through marksmanship and physical fitness. For the individual soldier, it develops confidence, discipline, and competitive spirit while instilling pride in representing one’s unit and country.”
He said that the outstanding performance during the CDF Cup highlights SFC’s unwavering commitment to excellence, both on the range and in the field, reflecting the values of professionalism, resilience, and victory.
