Africa-Press – Uganda. Everyone is glossing over the dark forces that ripped apart Maroons ‘ dressing room but the camaraderie after the final whistle was telling.
Maroons had just completed a double over Gaddafi whom they beat 2-0 at Luzira Prison on Thursday for their first victory in the second round. They had also lost five in a row.
Quick beautiful early goals from Bronson Nsubuga and Fred Amaku sealed the victory as both sides finished with 10 men in a game whose kick was delayed for 13 minutes.
The prison side replaced Charles Ayiekoh with Mohammed Ssenfuma and James Chemari as coaches this week.
Chemari was ecstatic about the victory which he said was aimed at digging themselves out of the hole.
“Our first target at the moment is to escape relegation. We were confirmed just yesterday (Wednesday) and the only thing we told players was to focus on each game as it comes,” Chemari said after the game.
It ensured Maroons’ third win of the season by completing a double over the Jinja side.
Hassan Zungu, Gaddafi’s coach, calmly brushed off the loss as an accident.
“We still have a big say in the title run. We put this loss behind us and focus on the next five games,” Zungu said.
