Africa-Press – Uganda. Mathias Mpuuga, leader of the opposition pressure group Democratic Alliance (DA), has defended the recently signed cooperation memorandum with Alien Skin, one of Uganda’s rising music talents.

The agreement, finalized weeks ago, has sparked debate among political analysts and the public.

Mpuuga argues that the memorandum is a strategic move for advancing democratic values in Uganda and promoting inclusivity across all societal levels.

“Our collaboration with Alien Skin is not just about interests but about aligning with individuals who share our values of transparency, equity, and the promotion of democratic principles,” Mpuuga stated.

The partnership, he explained, aims to foster a coalition of diverse, like-minded individuals to contribute toward national transition and reforms.

By leveraging Alien Skin’s influence, the DA seeks to expand grassroots mobilization and amplify its message to a broader audience, particularly among Uganda’s youth.

“The DA is open to working with anyone committed to improving the well-being of Ugandans. This collaboration is a step in that direction,” Mpuuga emphasized, reiterating that the party’s core values remain uncompromised.

Critics, however, have questioned the timing and intent of the alliance, with some opposition figures suggesting it might present a conflict of interest.

Mpuuga dismissed these concerns, describing the agreement as a reflection of the DA’s openness to strategic partnerships that align with its mission to build an inclusive and accountable governance system.

He further asserted, “This partnership is grounded in mutual respect for our principles. We will continue to advocate for a fairer and more just Uganda.”

The alliance with Alien Skin marks a significant shift in the DA’s approach, aiming to extend its influence into both the corporate and youth sectors.

As the country gears up for upcoming elections, Mpuuga’s defense underscores a calculated effort to solidify the DA’s position as a leading force in Ugandan politics.

Despite criticism, Mpuuga remains confident that such alliances will contribute to the growth of a more inclusive and democratic political landscape in Uganda.
