Africa-Press – Uganda. Mobile Money Uganda Limited (MTN MoMo) and Sanlam Investments East Africa Limited have launched Yinvesta, a revolutionary unit trust investment product aimed at making investment easy, accessible, and flexible for every Ugandan.
Officially unveiled on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at MTN Uganda Headquarters in Kampala, the new product allows customers to start investing with as little as Shs1,000.
Licensed by the Capital Markets Authority under the Collective Investments Schemes Act of 2003, Yinvesta pools funds from various individuals into a professionally managed fund that invests in a diversified portfolio of financial instruments such as treasury bills, government bonds, and bank deposits.
Customers benefit from daily interest earnings, instant withdrawals, and complete transparency through MTN MoMo channels.
Speaking at the launch event, Jemima Kariuki, Chief Product Officer at MTN MoMo, highlighted the significance of this innovation, especially for ordinary Ugandans who have historically found investing complex or out of reach.
“At MTN MoMo, we believe that financial empowerment should be accessible to everyone,” Kariuki said.
“Yinvesta simplifies investing, making it possible for Ugandans to grow their wealth effortlessly. With just Shs1,000, anyone can start their journey toward financial independence. Together, our moves are unstoppable.”
The launch was attended by industry leaders, financial experts, and tech-savvy entrepreneurs who praised the initiative for breaking long-standing barriers to investment and savings in Uganda.
Sanlam Investments East Africa CEO Jonathan Stichbury emphasized how this innovation taps into the growing need for low-entry, tech-driven investment options.
