Africa-Press – Uganda. MTN MoMo Uganda has launched the “Power to Be Borderless” promotion, aimed at rewarding customers for cross-border money transfers while strengthening financial inclusion between Uganda and Tanzania.

The announcement coincided with the official rollout of cross-border payments between the two countries and a strategic partnership with Dubai Duty Free.

The campaign allows senders abroad and receivers in Uganda to enjoy exclusive rewards. Senders can win fully paid trips, while receivers stand a chance to win shopping vouchers worth 200,000 shillings, gift hampers, and other prizes.

Speaking at the launch, MTN MoMo Chief Commercial Officer Keith Tukei said the campaign simplifies financial services for customers and connects Ugandans to opportunities across borders.

He added that the initiative reflects MTN MoMo’s broader mission of driving financial inclusion by enabling families, traders, professionals, and the diaspora community to participate in the economy without barriers.

Participation is straightforward. Senders abroad can use MTN MoMo’s remittance partners to transfer money directly to Uganda, while receivers in the country accept funds through their MoMo wallets.

Each transaction automatically qualifies as an entry into the draw, with the chances of winning increasing with the number of transactions made.

The campaign will run until the end of 2025, with winners announced via MTN’s official channels and website. Customers are reminded that MTN MoMo will never request money to release prizes.

This initiative forms part of MTN’s broader “Power to Be More” platform, which focuses on digital and financial empowerment by providing services that improve everyday life for Ugandans.

MTN MoMo is a subsidiary of MTN Uganda Limited and provides mobile financial services to over 13.6 million customers, including transfers, payments, savings, and loans. MTN Uganda itself serves 22.8 million subscribers across all districts in the country.
