Africa-Press – Uganda. MTN MoMo Uganda has launched a new nationwide campaign dubbed “The Power to Be More”, aimed at revolutionizing digital financial services and empowering Ugandans to fully participate in the digital economy.

Speaking during the launch event at MTN headquarters in Kampala, MTN MoMo CEO Richard Yego said the campaign signals a shift from traditional mobile money services toward a broader vision of financial empowerment.

“We’ve earned your trust by being a secure, reliable, and accessible financial partner. Today, we build on that legacy with a renewed vision to empower every Ugandan to do more, achieve more, and ultimately, become more,” he said.

With more than 13.6 million customers, MTN MoMo is now positioning itself as a one-stop digital financial ecosystem, offering services that go far beyond money transfers. These include tools for payments, borrowing, saving, investing, and even insurance.

“With MTN MoMo, your phone becomes your bank, your marketplace, your investment advisor, your insurance provider, and your passport to the global digital economy,” Yego added.

Jemima Kariuki, MTN MoMo Uganda’s Chief Products Officer, emphasized the company’s expanded suite of services designed to put power directly in users’ hands.

“This evolution is about enabling Ugandans to pay for goods and services, settle school fees, save, borrow, and invest—all from a mobile phone,” she said.

Among the key innovations introduced under the new campaign are:

Yinvesta: A simple investment platform designed to help Ugandans grow their wealth.

Market by MoMo: An e-commerce marketplace connecting small sellers to national and international customers.

Cover by MoMo: A microinsurance offering for individuals and families.

Virtual Card by MoMo: A tool for secure international online transactions.

The launch comes at a critical time as Uganda intensifies efforts to achieve its Vision 2040 and meet targets set out in the National Development Plan III (NDP III).

MTN MoMo says its campaign aligns closely with these national goals by fostering digital inclusion, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.

“By placing the power of a versatile financial ecosystem into the hands of every Ugandan, we are building the infrastructure for a prosperous and digitally empowered nation,” Yego said.

MTN MoMo also reaffirmed its commitment to security, promising continued investment in robust systems that protect every transaction.

MTN Uganda currently has a footprint in all 134 districts of the country, supported by more than 212,000 agents and nearly 101,000 merchants.

The company says it will leverage this vast network to ensure the new services under The Power to Be More campaign reach every corner of Uganda.

The campaign is part of MTN Group’s broader Ambition 2025 strategy—leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress—and reflects the company’s growing role as a digital financial powerhouse on the continent.
