MTN Uganda Launches Roundabout and Fountain Project

Africa-Press – Uganda. MTN Uganda has marked two major urban development milestones in Jinja City, launching a fully branded roundabout and breaking ground on the refurbishment of the City Fountain at the Mayor’s Gardens, fulfilling promises made to the city.

The initiatives are part of MTN Uganda’s broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda under its Ambition 2025 Strategy, which emphasizes sustainable growth and community development alongside technological innovation.

Speaking during the ceremony, MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge said the projects symbolize the company’s commitment to connecting communities while enhancing public spaces.

“Cities like Jinja are central to Uganda’s growth, and we are proud to contribute to their transformation. Supporting the beautification of our cities is part of our ESG commitment under Ambition 2025,” she said.

The branded roundabout, adorned in MTN’s distinctive yellow, is intended as a symbol of movement, connection, and progress, while the City Fountain, once refurbished, will serve as a landmark representing renewal and community pride.

Jinja City Mayor, Peter Alton Kasolo, welcomed the projects. “We are delighted to partner with MTN Uganda on these initiatives. The refurbished fountain and the branded roundabout will enhance our city’s beauty and create spaces that our residents can enjoy for years to come,” he said.

MTN also acknowledged the role of Kards Investment in delivering the projects, highlighting the importance of public-private collaboration in driving sustainable urban development.

The dual projects underscore MTN Uganda’s approach to doing business in tandem with social impact, aiming to blend infrastructure development with initiatives that foster community engagement and city pride.
