Africa-Press – Uganda. President Museveni has met with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Buganda Parliamentary Caucus at State House, Entebbe, to discuss a wide range of developmental and service delivery issues affecting Buganda and the country at large.

In his address, President Museveni emphasized the critical role that Buganda plays in the success of the NRM government, urging the leaders to defend and champion the legitimate interests of the people.

“You, the new leaders, need to defend the legitimate interests of the people of Uganda and Buganda because Buganda is the major beneficiary of the NRM revolution—and anybody who does not see that is an enemy of Buganda,” President Museveni stated.

He highlighted the tangible development that has taken place in the region, including improved infrastructure and industrial growth, attributing these achievements to the peace ushered in by the NRM government.

The president commended the Buganda NRM MPs for their efforts in sensitizing communities and monitoring government programs, encouraging them to shift their focus towards boosting household incomes.

“Strategically, Buganda is the direct beneficiary of NRM. If all the people get involved in wealth creation, Uganda will be the most developed country in the world,” he said.

President Museveni also pointed out land fragmentation as one of the key challenges affecting Buganda and the wider country, urging for comprehensive strategies to address the issue.

During the meeting, Robert Migadde Ndugwa, Chairperson of the NRM Buganda Parliamentary Caucus and MP for Buvuma County, presented a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the group.

He expressed appreciation to the President for his visionary leadership and noted that the caucus has been actively engaging with constituents and monitoring government initiatives across the region.

Rose Namayanja, the Deputy Secretary General of the NRM, also commended President Museveni for his continued guidance.

She praised the unity and commitment of the Buganda Caucus and encouraged them to work even harder to deliver success for the party and the people of Buganda.
