AVIATION | TRANSPORT |President Yoweri Museveni is on Tuesday scheduled to receive the first Airbus aircraft manufactured in France as one of the newest additions to the Uganda Airlines at a function organised at Entebbe international airport.The Airbus A330-800neo (New Engine Options) follows the purchase of four CRJ 900 jetliners also called Bombadiers in April and October respectively.A team of government officials, led by works minister Gen. Katumba Wamala left on Friday to Toulouse city in France to receive the new aircraft, which will be handed over on Monday. The team that traveled with the minister include officials of the ministries of works, finance, national planning authority led by Katuukiro of Busoga Muvawala, civil aviation led by acting director-general Fred Bamwesigye, and Uganda Airlines led by board chairman Pereza Ahabwe.The team that left Entebbe airport on Friday night waited for some hours at Amsterdam airport for a connection to Toulouse.

France is, however, under lockdown and applying strong safety measures linked to COVID-19.Shops are open during normal business hours but restaurants, bars, cafes, cinemas, and gyms remain closed.The media team will, however, be permitted to make a sightseeing tour of Toulouse on Sunday as they prepare for Monday’s receiving function.
