Africa-PressUganda. Presidential candidate Nancy Kalembe failed to turn up for her campaigns in Kagadi district on Tuesday, disappointing residents who were eager to see her.

In a telephone interview about failure to show up in Kagadi, Kibaale and Kakumiro districts, Kalembe said she was unable to travel due to physical and logistical challenges.

“I was supposed to be there but due to logistical challenges, I was unable. I am re-designing my programme to see how I can cover Greater Kibaale and will communicate to you at a later time,” she said.

Maureen Abitegeka, a businesswoman in Kagadi said: “Being the only woman in the race, I was eager to hear what programmes she has for women. My worry is whether she will manage to traverse the entire country.”

Eric Kato, a resident of Kabuga trading centre said: “It is upon the electorate to choose her basing on her capability. Let her come and tell people what plans she has for our country”.

Christian Ankunzire, a resident of Kagadi town council, said: “As a private teacher, I would like a presidential candidate who has plans for the suffering private teachers. Let her come and tell us programmes she has for the people of Kagadi.”

Vincent Katusabe, a resident of Kitebere of landing site in Ndaiga sub-county, said: “As a resident of Lake Albert shores, we have numerous challenges such as floods, theft of boats, unfair taxes, diseases. I want a presidential candidate who can instil some hope in us, especially in regard to those challenges. I want her to come and visit Lake Albert to assess the situation and tell us the way forward.”

Odila Byonabye, a resident of Kyabasenja, said: “As a woman I feel energised when I hear my fellow woman coming up to stand as a president of this country. It instils confidence in me that we can also compete with men for such positions. Kalembe should come to Kagadi to tell us her agenda for our district.”
