Independent presidential candidate Nancy Kalembe has promised to revive Masaka’s lost glory in agriculture, co-operatives, infrastructure, and industrial development.
Kalembe, who on Thursday and Friday traversed Lwengo and Masaka districts, regretted that Masaka, which was economically vibrant, had retarded.
“I found the once-powerful Masaka in a sorry state, the potholes in Nyendo division are a mess, the people are miserable and poor, and co-operative societies have collapsed. I am going to change the situation once you vote for me,” she said.
Kalembe said the bad state of roads in the region does not facilitate business. She said the hospitals and health centres in Greater Masaka were poor equipped, especially maternity wards.
“I found patients sleeping on the floor, others are outside. Beds and drugs are lacking. This situation must change,” she said.
