Africa-Press – Uganda. NBS Sport has announced a UGX 400 million partnership with the NSSF Kampala Hills Run 2025, reaffirming its commitment to advancing sport as a driver of social change.
The annual run, now in its sixth edition, will take place on 12th October 2025 at Kololo Independence Grounds, starting at 6:00 am. It challenges participants to conquer Kampala’s seven hills, raising funds for projects that support education, health, and improved community livelihoods.
Speaking during the launch, Andrew Kabuura, Head of Sports Broadcast at Next Media and Team Lead at NBS Sport, highlighted the lasting impact of the run:
“Year after year, we’ve witnessed the NSSF Run transform not just classrooms, but futures. As storytellers at NBS Sport, we’ve seen the real difference — children learning in safer, better-equipped schools, and communities united by purpose. It’s an honour to be part of this journey, and we’re proud to partner with the 2025 NSSF Run.”
Over the years, proceeds from the NSSF Kampala Hills Run have supported the refurbishment of 60 classroom blocks and improved sanitation in 25 primary schools across Uganda. More than 40,000 students benefit daily from these interventions, which have not only improved learning conditions but also boosted access to education. The initiatives have led to a 12% increase in student enrolment and a 10% reduction in dropouts at beneficiary schools.
This year’s theme, “Together, we are running for Ondia”, underscores the commitment to transform public schools and shape a brighter future for children across the country. Every stride counts toward building stronger learning environments.
The NSSF Kampala Hills Run is organized by NSSF Uganda in partnership with MTN Uganda, Housing Finance Bank, and NBS Sport. Speaking at the launch, MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge said:
“The MTN Marathon has left a lasting spirit, inspiring collaborations like this. Our contribution to the NSSF Kampala Hills Run is UGX 200 million.”
Patrick Ayota, Managing Director of NSSF Uganda, added:
“The NSSF Kampala Hills Run is more than a charity event. It is a call to action, inviting Ugandans to join us in raising funds for the improvement of learning conditions in public primary schools.”
Run kits are available for UGX 35,000, with each package including a vest, cap, bag, bib, and timing chip. Kits can be purchased via MTN MoMo or collected at official distribution points across Kampala.
The 2025 edition is expected to bring together thousands of runners — from corporate teams and athletes to families — all rallying for a cause that stretches beyond the track.
