Africa-Press – Uganda. As the excitement builds around the Rugby Africa Cup 2025, Uganda’s leading sports broadcaster, NBS Sport, is significantly scaling up its rugby programming to cover the biggest Rugby tournament on the continent.
Starting Monday, July 1st, NBS Sport’s rugby show, The Scrum will transition from a weekly Friday slot to a daily broadcast airing Monday to Friday, 6:00 to 7:00 PM throughout July.
This bold move is designed to amplify coverage of Africa’s premier rugby competition and ensure fans across the country — and continent — stay connected to every moment of the action.
The expanded daily show is proudly powered by Rock Boom, the official sponsor, whose partnership is helping re-energize the game and the audience with unmatched vibrancy and support.
“The Rugby Africa Cup is a continental celebration of Rugby — and deserves more coverage,” said Victor Akatwijuka, Brand Manager at NBS Sport.
“We knew one weekly episode of The Scrum wouldn’t be enough. By going daily, we’re committing more airtime, more storytelling, and more on-the-ground presence to give this tournament the coverage it truly deserves. We’re going all out. No stone will be left unturned.”
Hosted by rugby expert Ernest Akorebirungi, The Scrum: Rugby Africa Cup hour will feature a dynamic mix of match highlights, tactical analysis, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, player and coach interviews, team training access, and vibrant conversations around the games. Designed as the ultimate daily rugby digest, the show will give fans context and commentary far beyond just the scores.
In addition to the daily studio coverage, NBS Sport will broadcast and air all the Rugby Africa Cup 2025 matches live, bringing fans the action as it happens from every venue. Complementing the live match coverage, dedicated sports reporting teams will provide real-time updates, post-match reactions, and fan-driven stories.
The partnership with Rock Boom is a powerful match, bringing a fresh spark to the show’s tone and energy. Known for its bold and youthful brand identity, Rock Boom is supporting The Scrum through integrated sponsorship, activations, and digital extensions, helping connect the game to a wider and more energetic audience.
“We’re proud to be working with Rock Boom on this,” added Akatwijuka. “Their energy mirrors the intensity of rugby. This is more than sponsorship — it’s a re-energizing of the rugby experience, both on-screen and on the ground.”
NBS Sport’s move underscores its broader mission to champion Ugandan sport and elevate its presence on the African stage.
With Uganda hosting the Rugby Africa Cup, the spotlight is firmly on Kampala — and NBS Sport is determined to lead the conversation, shape the narrative, and deliver world-class coverage.
