Nita-U Launches Ugov Platform for Government Services

Africa-Press – Uganda. The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) has announced a landmark digital initiative aimed at transforming how government services are delivered to citizens across the country.

In partnership with leading technology firm AlphaX, NITA-U is developing UGOV, an integrated digital ecosystem designed to unify all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) under a single, streamlined platform.

The announcement was made during a stakeholder engagement workshop held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, attended by representatives from multiple MDAs who were introduced to the platform’s features and capabilities.

UGOV aims to enhance efficiency, accelerate service delivery, and enable more meaningful engagement between government institutions and the public.

“UGOV marks a new chapter in Uganda’s digital evolution. By unifying government services onto a single platform, we are making public service delivery simpler, smarter, and accessible to every citizen, regardless of where they live,” said Julian M. Rweju, Acting Director of E-Government Services at NITA-U.

Rweju emphasized the importance of collective adoption by all government institutions, noting that synergy across MDAs will be critical for advancing Uganda’s position in global digital competitiveness and cementing its leadership in digital transformation.

Speaking on behalf of AlphaX, Timos Tokousbalides, the company’s Creative Director, highlighted the citizen-centric design of UGOV:

“From the beginning, our mission has been to create a platform that people can truly call their own. When citizens feel the service belongs to them—familiar, trusted, and rooted in their identity—that is when real adoption and meaningful engagement begin.”

As part of the rollout strategy, NITA-U has appointed change agents within each MDA. These ambassadors will champion the platform, raise awareness, build user confidence, and support the seamless integration of e-services across government institutions.

With digital transformation reshaping public expectations globally, NITA-U reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to making government services faster, more accessible, and transparent. Through the UGOV initiative and its partnership with AlphaX, NITA-U is strengthening its mission to leverage ICT for improving citizens’ lives and reinforcing Uganda’s leadership in digital governance.
